The Faculty of Dentistry at UBC announces the name of a new dental learning centre on campus as the Patterson Dental Learning Centre. The centre is a dedicated space for hands-on training for dentists and their various study clubs. The new centre is a continuation of a previous dental learning centre located at and run by the British Columbia Dental Association. That centre recently closed and the bulk of its equipment, furnishings and technology was moved to the UBC location.
The new dental learning centre at UBC has been made possible through a partnership and leadership gift from Patterson Dental/Dentaire, as well as generous support from A-dec Inc., and the BCDA. Past donors of the BCDA centre will also be acknowledged in the new centre.
The centre is located in a space once known as the Sutherland Clinic on the ground floor of the John B. Macdonald Building. Renovations are underway and include eight open and three closed operatories fully equipped with delivery systems and imaging and scanning technology, a lecture-room pavilion serviced with audio visual equipment for live procedures, and a patient waiting area.
Slated to open in early September, the Patterson Dental Learning Centre is shaping up to be a modern, dynamic professional facility where the rich tradition of BC’s study clubs may continue to live on.
To learn more about the centre and to book it for study clubs, contact the UBC Division of Continuing Dental Education at cdeconf@dentistry.ubc.ca or 604-827-5696.
