Hannu Larjava
Dean pro tem and Associate Dean, Research
Dr. Larjava earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and a PhD from the University of Turku, Finland. After completing his specialization in periodontics, he undertook postdoctoral training at the National Cancer Institute before joining the University of Alabama at Birmingham as an Associate Professor. Dr. Larjava joined UBC Dentistry in 1993 as Chair of the Division of Periodontics and Director of Graduate Periodontics. He currently serves as the Associate Dean, Research. His CIHR-funded research focuses on scarless wound healing and on the pathogenesis of periodontal disease.
