Salary Range Requirements
As of November 1, 2023, as Section 2 of the Pay Transparency Act outlines, all employers in British Columbia must include salary or wage information on all publicly advertised job postings. We can no longer publish postings that do not include a salary range unless the position is paid entirely by commission. The requirement applies to jobs advertised outside of BC if the position is open to BC residents to apply and may be filled by someone living in BC, either in-person or remotely.
The following examples meet the requirement:
- $20 per hour
- $20-$30 per hour
- $40,000 per year
- $40,000 – $60,000 per year
Employers should not include an unspecified minimum or maximum amount. The following examples do not meet the requirement:
- $20 per hour and up
- Up to $30 per hour
